AFET Walkers Club
It all started one Sunday morning in June 2007, the ever reliable Marilou Suplido, together with Doreen Jose & Abelle Cajita got up at 6:15 am to walk from Cazbar, up the hill where President Ramos-Horta is and further up where the “basurahan” is. After watching the beautiful sunrise and doing some stretches, these 3 ladies started going down the hill and back to Cazbar. Quite a good walk!
Two weeks after, some AFET Board members, together with the walk leader (Marilou Suplido), joined the original 3 walkers. These Board members were: Mylene, Doray, and Jun. Yen of Roobar also joined the group. Sa lakad na ito, mas marami ang picture-taking kaysa walking more seriously. It was during this walk when the AFET WALKERS’ CLUB came about.
July 22, 2007, just last Sunday, AFET El Presidente, Mitz, led most of her Officers and other AFET members to join the club. With Marilou Suplido, the numbers increased to 10 walkers. Sila ay sina: Mylene, Doray, Jun, Abelle, Arlet, Vilma, Yen Rosel & Paolo Mateus. The group took the same route (from Cazbar up the Ramos Horta hill) but instead of returning back, Rosel took over Marilou Suplido’s role as walk leader. He led the group down the other side of the hill, hiking and trekking through the bushes and rough sides. The group ended up in a dirt road, thinking that would be the end of the walk. But no! we had to walk more to get around the Kristo Rei hill. The group was tired but happy since most of the time, Kodak dito! Kodak doon! Maski hirap na hirap ng bumaba sa bangin, naka smile pa ang lahat!
The view was so beautiful with the sounds of the waves of the wonderful beaches surrounding the path. Ang paghihirap any hindi pa tapos. The group had to do rock climbing up Kristo Rei for us to go back to where we started. This was more difficult dahil mas mataas ang kailangan akyatin. The group SURVIVED at picture taking pa rin.
Hindi pa rin tapos! Another 30 minutes to walk to reach Cazbar. Mylene never made it to church service. All others rushed home not to be late for the Catholic service. The buko juice gave everyone all the energies to go back home without having to take breakfast anymore.
Did the group regret doing that walk? El Presidente says…."NO!" Pero next time, she said, start at Cristo Rei…. :) Everyone happy! See the smiles on the faces of the walkers!!!
If you want to join the AFET WALKERS’ CLUB, join the original members on Sundays at 6:15 am, Cazbar. Walang registration ito!!!
